ABRAHAM'S SACRIFICE

There is a song that many Christian children sing called Father Abraham.  And some of the words say:  Father Abraham had many sons.  “Many sons had Father Abraham.  I am one them and so are you.  So let’s just praise the Lord.”

Do you know that God made Abraham the father the Israelite’s?.  Yes, God called Abraham to lead His chosen people.

One day God called Abraham to do something that is very, very hard for a person to do.  One of Abraham’s sons was Isaac.  God asked Abraham to take Isaac up in the mountains and give his son as a sacrifice to God.

Abraham did not hesitate, because Abraham always wanted to what God ask him to do.  So Abraham took Isaac and set out to give in sacrifice to God.  So what was the sacrifice?  Abraham was to kill his son to show God that he would obey Him no matter what was asked.
When Abraham was about to kill Isaac, God stopped him and said to not lay a hand on him.  God was very pleased with Abraham, because He knew that Abraham loved God above all.  Abraham showed that he had faith in God.  Abraham didn’t know that God would stop him from killing his son.  Abraham relied on his faith in God.  Abraham believed that God would help him and Isaac through this test.  Only faith can lead us to do God’s will even unto death.

Are you getting ready to offer your life to Christ.  Are you ready to make a living sacrifice to God and say that I will do what you ask me to?  One way to offer your life to Christ is to obey your parents.  Another is to do well in school.  And, another way is to read your Bible and learn who Christ is.

Please ask your parents to read the story of Abraham’s Sacrifice found in Genesis 22:1-19.  Talk about what Abraham did.
