What Do You Think About That?
Scripture Passage
Bible Story
|
Music has always been a vital part of our lives and today music is just as important. Music is everywhere. So, what do we listen to? Are you aware of the lyrics? Do you know the meaning behind what you listen to? Dance to? Tell your friends about? Consider this scenario: I was talking to my brother about music and we were listening to music videos. Next thing I knew, the words to a song just jumped out at me. I never paid much attention before, but now I thought I heard it saying something about lucifer being my king. Now, we could have been wrong in what we heard; I don’t know. I just know I didn’t feel the same about the listening to the music. I like to listen to the beat and I like to dance. But I just couldn’t listen to that group anymore because I wasn’t sure what they were putting out there. I believe in God and I’m a Christian. So, I just didn’t want to disappoint God by listening to something that didn’t want me to worship Him. It’s like the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. I would rather being like them then the others in the city who worshipped the King.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused to do it and said they didn’t care. They said in verse 16 “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up." So the king had them thrown into a pit burning with fire. But when king Nebuchadnezzar looked into the pit, they weren’t being burned and there seemed to be someone else walking around with them. So, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego showed the people that no matter what is thrown your way if you believe in God, He will see you safely through. Please read the entire story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the third chapter of the Old Testament book of Daniel.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up."
